Creating Your Own Overlays

If you love the many 12x12 overlays (or printed transparencies) that are available lately, you'll love being able to create your own! Using rubber stamps and permanent inks like StazOn that are designed for non-porous surfaces, you can create an unlimited number of designs in any color you like!

1. Cut a Page Background
Tracing the Template
Use the Page Backgrounds template to cut a round or square page background design. Although the template is not required to stamp your overlay, it is easiest to line up your stamping if you first cut the background design.

2. Position Transparency
Position Transparency
Center a blank 12x12 transparency sheet over the design you have cut. For best results, tape the transparency in place with a removable tape.

3. Stamp Design
Stamp on Transparency
Ink the selected stamp with StazOn ink and stamp within the page background shape. Take care not to slide the stamp on the slick surface. Continue stamping all the way around the design, overlapping each stamp slightly.

4. Remove Transparency
Remove Transparency
Allow the ink to dry (about 3 minutes for StazOn) and then remove your “printed” transparency.

To attach it to your page, use a clear spray adhesive, or conceal adhesive behind a page element such as a photo or embellishment. Reserve the cut background page for another project.
